На следующий день весь табун только и обсуждал шторм, который испортил праздник. Некоторые взрослые говорили, что видели в озере лошадь, но все сошлись на том, что им это почудилось, — ведь кто в такую погоду покинет уютную конюшню? Даже Атлас заявил, что не отправился бы плавать в таких условиях. К тому же утром все были на месте. Пятнашка слышал это обсуждение и только улыбался про себя, но никому ничего не сказал.
Вскоре владелец табуна продал его, чтобы заработать деньги на подготовку коней, отобранных для скачек. Пятнашку купил мистер Левит — славный пожилой фермер, лошадь которого уже состарилась и не могла выполнять свои ежедневные обязанности.
Все говорили, что зря приобретает этого малыша, но мистер Левит никого не слушал. С первого взгляда он заметил в глазах жеребёнка огонь, который напомнил ему о сыне, погибшем на службе в королевской армии за 12 месяцев до рождения Пятнашки. «Пусть он и мал, но у него большое сердце», — заявил фермер и улыбнулся.

Chapter 4: The Move
The next day, all the horses talked about the crazy storm that ruined their celebration. They said that some of the adults thought they saw a horse in the lake but the weather was so horrible that no horse dared to leave the shelter of the stable and check if it was true. Even Atlas himself said he would not have dared swim in the lake in this weather, and that sealed the possibility of any horse daring to swim in the lake. It was decided they were mislead, especially since in the morning the head count revealed all horses were present. Spots heard the discussion and smiled inwardly but did not reveal that it was him swimming in the lake.
Spots was soon sold by the owner of the herd in order to earn money for the training of the selected horses. Mr. Levit, a nice older gentleman whose other horse had gotten too old to do all its daily chores, bought Spots. Everyone told him he was wasting his money on that small and spotted young stallion. Mr. Levit didn’t listen to them. When the farmer looked at Spots he saw fire in his eyes—a spirit that reminded him of his son who had been lost in the service of the King’s Army 12 months before Spots, was born. “Where Spots falls short in size he makes up far more in heart,” farmer Levit replied while smiling at Spots.
